Lake Superior Shoreline Erosion Control
Consider both riprap and hydroseeding for preventing shoreline erosion
As one of the Great Lakes, Lake Superior has many miles of shoreline – no two of which are exactly the same. Some are simple beach, and others are cliff-like.
Lakeshore Guys can help.
If your shoreline isn’t on a steep slope, you may need riprap installed or repaired, as a way to prevent erosion. It’s simple and elegant, and we’re riprap artisans.
But if your shoreline is a steep slope or cliff, you’ll probably want hydro-seeding, as a way to reintroduce grass that can prevent mudslides. This is a common problem on Lake Superior: many cabin owners’ and homeowners’ shorelines are simply crumbling into the lake.
We’ve done a number of steep-slope hydro-seeding jobs on Lake Superior. Here are some before-and-after photos of a recent one:
On steep slopes, riprap can cost 10x as much as hydroseeding. You’ll want to consider both options.
